The post holder will conduct a specified programme of research under the joint mentorship of Professor Lorraine O’Driscoll at the School of School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences and Professor Joanne Lysaght at the School of Medicine. The post holder will become an important team member of Trinity St. James cancer institute (TSJCI, https://www.stjames.ie/cancer/research/) and of the AICRIstart programme (https://www.aicri.org/aicristart), which was awarded €4 million in funding under the HEA North South Research Programme. Under the broad theme of Immuno-Oncology & the Microbiome, working with collaborators at the University of Limerick and Ulster University, this project will focus on the immunomodulatory influence of extracellular vesicles (EVs) on T cell phenotype and function in cancer.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
Conduct a specified programme of EVs immunomodulatory research under the mentorship of Prof. O’Driscoll and Prof. Lysaght.
Deliver research outputs and provide input into reports as required for the project management schedule.
Assist in identifying and developing future research and funding initiatives.
Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research in which they are engaged, with the support of and under the supervision of Prof. O’Driscoll and Prof. Lysaght.
Person Specification & Qualifications
The candidate appointed to this post will conduct all the in vitro and ex vivo extracellular vesicles (EVs) studies using cell lines and cancer patient samples, assist with the day-to-day running of this project and with preparing timely reports and other appropriate forms of dissemination from this study.
(Essential) The applicant must hold a PhD qualification in a Pharmacology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or Pharmacy.
