Research Assistant Position, Cloonan Lab, School of Medicine - Trinity College Dublin
The Cloonan lab in the School of Medicine, Trinity Biosciences Institute (TBSI) is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to help with day to day Research Activities. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing both the administrative and technical running of the lab on a day to day basis with an option for flexible working hours. The successful applicant will join an inter-disciplinary and dynamic research team. The Cloonan lab is focused on understanding how cellular iron metabolism is regulated in the lung and how dysregulation of iron uptake, release or turnover contributes to disease processes.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post:
Include budget organization, management and financial grant reporting.
Purchasing of equipment, reagents, supplies and other necessary items for the laboratory.
Management of Laboratory Space, stock storage, general cleanliness, as per Health and Safety Guidelines.
Processing human samples derived from research bronchoscopy.
Maintenance of cell lines and assisting with current and future research projects in the laboratory.
Manage an independent research project.
Assist in the management of transgenic mouse colonies and genotyping.
Development and maintenance of research ethics, health and safety and animal protocols with associated documentation.
Assisting with the development and execution of experimental protocols.
Scheduling of team meetings and related activities.
Establishment, maintenance and management of (new) equipment (in collaboration with researchers).
