Prof Aideen Ryan talks to RTE radio 1 about immunotherapy for colorectal cancer

Prof Aideen Ryan explains how the work being done in University of Galway could help overcome resistance of bowel cancer to promising immunotherapy treatments.

Dr. Aideen Ryan is an Associate Professor in tumour immunology at the University of Galway and is a member of the ISI Executive Committee. Prof Ryan's research focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which mesenchymal stromal cells interact with cancer cells in bowel cancer to help cancer cells evade the immune system and targeted drugs. By carrying out this work her group is contributing to the identification of new pathways that could be targeted to treat this disease.
