The School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, RCSI, wishes to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative individual to the role of Lecturer in Immunology. The purpose of the job is to deliver education and research that will have a lasting impact on health and care and research-led education and training. You will use and develop novel approaches to deliver on our education programmes in this area as well as developing research methodologies to improve healthcare by helping to understand, diagnose, monitor or treat disease and thus benefiting patients and the wider population through research translation, prevention, system performance and optimised care. It is expected that research will be internationally competitive, disseminated widely and will have significant impact in the immunology fields globally. New funding will need to be sought to maintain and grow self-sustaining research. Applicants will also be expected to contribute to undertake any associated management and administrative duties.


Objectives of this post are to:

  • Contribute to and participate in the design, development and delivery of Immunology in the School’s educational programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including, but not limited to, MPharm, the MSc Technologies and Analytics in Precision Medicine, the BSc Advanced Therapeutic Technologies, Direct Entry Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine.

  • Provide a wide range of skills and expertise in the areas including, but not limited to, applications of immunology and immunological technologies in healthcare. In particular, the applicant should have a very broad understanding of immune responses and inflammation, with the specific goal of understanding these processes in the context of disease pathology and progression, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment.

  • Sustain an independent and highly productive research profile aligned with established priority areas of research within the School and across RCSI.
