Professor Kingston Mills is the inaugural recipient of the ISI Public Lecture Award. The aim of this annual award is to honour an Irish immunologist, whose work has made a significant contribution to the understanding of immunology and health improvement.
Prof. Mills will receive this award to mark his contribution to the field of vaccine research over the past 20 years.
Prof. Mills graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a B.Sc. degree in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in immunology.
Prof. Mills was appointed to a personal chair in experimental immunology at Trinity College, Dublin in October 2001. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers on the immunology of infectious diseases in leading international scientific journals.

In an Irish Times/RDS Science Today/ISI lecture entitled: "Vaccines - Are They Good For You?" Prof. Mills will discuss the safety issues related to vaccinations. He will also reveal the latest efforts taking place in his own and other laboratories to make vaccines safer.
